Pablo Ventura or Pablo Picasso? By: Paige Vespestad Growing up, Pablo always had an interest in art.  Beginning in the fourth grade, Pablo was drawn to the creativity and freedom that went along with his elementary school art class.   The feeling of peace he experienced while drawing whatever came to his mind was like nothing he had ever experienced before. The variety of colors, the new tools, such as paints, brushes, pastels, and pencils all captivated him.  There was an instant connection to the subject. While the rest of school could not keep his attention, Pablo says that art class was the “only time that I was awake,” during the school day.  While some may not even recall their fourth grade art class, this class planted a seed in Pablo that would only continue to blossom as he got older. Exploring the World of Food   For Taiya, eating spaghetti and chicken nuggets was a way of life. Self-identified as a picky eater . S he wouldn’t dare try new foods  un til she began her job at Panera, which resulted in gaining weight and a newfound conviction to change her eating habits. With the help of her mother (and lots of determination) she immersed herself into the community of cooking.    Gaining weight was the catalyst  in  chang ing  her lifestyle. Thankfully, cooking was nothing new to Taiya.  She took a class that helped her learn the fundamentals. Learning side by side with her mom, her adventure into cooking looked as straight as a butter knife.      “I took cooking classes in high school and my mom also took some cooking classes.                                    Haley Burns: Wild Life Conservation / Animal Activism Community      Everybody has heard something about wild life conservation and animal activism at least once in their lifetime. You have maybe even talked about it or been a part of it before. Whether it was as small as donating money to an animal organization, going to the shelter to get an animal so it can stay of the street, or as big as giving up meat. This community is huge across the country, and its main purpose is to come together to support wild life conservation/animal activism.
